The ensemble that eventually became Amici della Musica came into being some time around 1987 or 1988 (no one is really sure) when a group of Las Vegas
professional and amateur musicians discovered a common interest in early music. The first ensemble consisted of Mallie Riecken on harpsichord, Paul Ponto on viola da gamba,
Muriel Lem on treble recorder and Lyndl Miller on viola d'amour and baroque violin, occasionally augmented with various guest players. Doug Brandt joined the group in 1992
taking Muriel's place when she and her husband retired to Texas. Brian Erle joined the group in 1992 following Lyndl's tragic death.
The group's repertoire
has changed gradually over the years with the instrumentation changes.
